Moving & Motion

Including exercising in one’s lifestyle changes (in addition to diet and other stress relief strategies) can cause a remission of mast cell activation symptoms with 30-45 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise recommended per day. Remember that the retraining of mast cells happens gradually and not all at once so take your time. The physical exertion of exercising can, for some people, cause mast cell activation and bring on reactions so interval training and exercise routines that are interval routines are often a good choice. Pace yourself and listen to your body (and always check with your doctor before starting any exercise routine.)

ASMR

Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response—ASMR—is often used as an aid to help with relaxation, stress and anxiety reduction, pain reduction, and sleep.

Recent research (see here and here) has shown that engaging with and watching ASMR videos and media can bring about physical sensations of tingling accompanied by feelings of relaxation, calm, and well-being.

ASMR uses sound as well as visual situationals (such as the point of view of  “close proximity” to the viewer; the use of role play to simulate an aspect of grooming, e.g., getting a facial or having one’s hair done; speaking in a whispering, quiet tone; the use of objects) to  help improve sleep, ease feelings of stress and anxiety, and manage chronic pain. The use of sound, however, is the ASMR trigger most frequently reported with beneficial effects.
