About Eco-Health
It’s common for people to think that the term “eco-health” refers to the natural environment and the state of the planet. Things like pollution and global warming. They’re not wrong. But they’re not entirely right, either. Eco-health actually encompasses a whole lot more.
“Eco” means environment and human health is intrinsically linked with the health of our environment. But our environment isn’t limited to the natural environment and the outdoors. It includes what we build, the materials we use, what we eat, what we wear, what we drive, our life and lifestyle choices.
Eco-health/Environmental health is about the relationship we have with, and the interaction between, the environment and our health. It’s not just the outdoors, chemicals, or toxic exposures. It involves COVID-19, long-COVID, stress, hormones, aspects of modern lifestyles, noise pollution, infectious diseases, viruses, and more.

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) includes in their publication, “Environmental Diseases from A to Z”: allergies; asthma; dermatitis; immune deficiency diseases; illnesses caused by chemicals and other agents, poisonous chemicals, dyes, and metals; nervous system disorders; vision problems; and more (see here).
