MOD 1

The Mast Cell Universe (part 1)

Learning Guide

The CELACare Mast Cell Health Certificate Programs are designed to provide foundational introductions to mast cells, non-mastocytosis mast cell activation related issues and disorders, and how best to support individuals who have and are living with these complex health conditions and needs.

It is important to understand that mast cell activation related issues and disorders are systemic. They impact every organ system of the body including the brain.

It is crucial to understand that when a person has a non-mastocytosis, systemic, mast cell activation disorder—namely Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)—that disorder, the MCAS, is the overarching primary health issue and disorder. It is a disorder that presents in many different ways, differing from person to person.

People with a systemic mast cell activation disorder, with MCAS, may experience and exhibit a presentation of symptoms of the MCAS as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, chemical sensitivities, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), eczema, migraines, food intolerances, high or low blood pressure, respiratory issues, brainfog, muscle fatigue, and more in varying combinations. These are not separate disorders. They are all branches connected to and a part of the one “tree” of MCAS.
